Insulin 
Hormone that increases glucose transport across cell members,transforms glycogen into glucose,prevents breakdown of fats to fatty acids and inhibits protein breakdown

Use:
Type I Diabetes Mellitus,can also be given in type II Diabetes Mellitus for Patient who are not controlled on oral hypoglycemic agents,exercise or died etc

Adverse Effects AntiDiabetics Medication
Allergic reaction,hypoglycemia,hypokalemia,lips dystrophy

Nursing Care for AntiDiabetics Medication

  • Rotate injection site
  • Do not shake vial,gently roll
  • Don't inject cold insulin to prevent from lips dystrophy
  • Explain client's s/s of hypoglycemia and Watch for them
  • Monitor blood glucose levels before giving insulin
  • Teach client's insulin self-administration and different sites for injection
  • Avoid smoking decreases insulin absorption
  • Alcohol can trigger a hypoglycemic reaction.avoid its intake
  • Explain client's that therapy relives symptoms but dose not cure the disease
